The Power of Win/Win Partnerships

One of the principles we emphasize in our Leading with Purpose speaker series is creating Win/Win relationships. The strongest partnerships aren't transactional; they are relational and transformational. When two organizations come together with a shared purpose, they create far more value than either could achieve on their own.

That's exactly why the Durango Chamber of Commerce is excited to partner with the Durango Parade of Homes as it returns to the greater Durango area September 11–13, 2026. On the surface, this may seem like a standard event partnership. Look deeper, and you’ll see this is a great example of how collaboration multiplies opportunities across our entire community.

For those unfamiliar with the event, the Durango Parade of Homes is much more than a home tour. Seven properties across the greater Durango area will open their doors to the public, giving participants a behind-the-scenes look at some of the region's finest construction. Guests have the unique opportunity to walk through each property, meet the builders, ask questions about the design and construction process, and discover the many local businesses that contribute to bringing each home to life. From the foundation to the finishing touches, every home tells the story of dozens of local companies working together.

What excites me most about this partnership is that its impact extends far beyond the construction industry. Every featured home represents its own micro-economy. The homes may carry the builder’s name, but the finished product reflects an entire community of skilled professionals. Each home showcases the work of architects, engineers, excavators, tradespeople, appliance suppliers, landscapers, local artists, photographers, and real estate professionals. Every room tells the story of another local company that helped make the homeowner’s vision become a reality.

That's exactly why this partnership makes sense for the Chamber. It provides another opportunity to demonstrate value to our members by connecting them with an event that highlights the diversity of our local business community. Many businesses may never have considered themselves part of the Parade of Homes, yet they can play a role in every showcase.
