AIR SERVICE
The Durango/La Plata County Airport, located 15 miles southeast of the City of Durango and accessed via US Hwy 172, is a publicly-owned commercial service and general aviation facility, operated jointly by the City of Durango and La Plata County. The 9,200 foot primary runway, lit and equipped with navigational aids, can handle the majority of commercial-sized aircraft. Currently, United Express offers service to Denver, and US Airways provides service to Phoenix. The city of Durango offers a variety of options for
public transportation through Durango Transit –
or the “T” – which operates a variety
of small buses and trolleys within the Durango municipal
limits, including service to Downtown, Fort Lewis College,
west and south Durango. All vehicles are equipped with
bike racks. The city also operates an on-demand transportation

Road Runner Transit is a service of the Southern Ute Indian Tribe, operated by the Southern Ute Community Action Program, and is based in Ignacio. Routes circulate in east La Plata County with, currently, three round-trips daily into Durango. For additional information call (970) 563-4545.
HIGHWAY ROUTES
U.S. Highway 160 connects with Interstate Highway 25 and Interstate Highway 40. US Highway 550 connects with Interstate Highway 70 north to Denver and south to Albuquerque.
TRUCK SERVICE
Several common carriers provide service to Durango. Four major carriers have regional offices in Durango; Northwest Transport, RAC Transport and United Van Lines. Other smaller freight carriers operate out of Durango and include Federal Express, UPS, Airborne Express and Kangaroo Express.
